Fluorescent Lighting within the Home
Energy efficiency is an important consideration for most households these days and this includes the efficiency of your light bulbs. Rather than using standard incandescent lights you may consider using fluorescent lighting within your home instead. Another type of energy efficient bulb is the metal halide bulb. Due to the short lifetime of incandescent bulbs and the fact that they can reduce their light output as they age they are not the most energy efficient way to light a house.
Fluorescent tube light bulbs are available in short lengths for use within the home and many different acceptable light fixtures are available. Fluorescent light bulbs have a lifetime of upto 10 times that of an incandescent bulb. Also fluorescent bulbs only use around 30% of the electricity used by a standard light bulb.
The option to customise the spectrum of light emitted by your fluorescent bulbs is also possible. You can choose cool white bulbs, warm coloured bulbs or even full daylight spectrum fluorescent tubes. Making this type of lighting very versatile and economical within your home.
