Why is the cost of mobile phones getting higher?

Monday, April 7th, 2008

The number of mobile phone sites has been growing steadily over the past few years. Mobile phone contracts are getting longer and therefore more valuable to the operators themselves. There has also been a considerable amount of consolidation within the industry, with the likes of dialaphone being sold to phones 4 u and mobiles being snapped up by the carphone warehouse. All this means that the market is confusing and at times, overcrowded. Take a look at the Nokia N96 on contract, this is an expensive mobile phone with a lot of features and as a result it means that you need to ensure that you get a deal that is just right for your situation. Choose carefully about the number of minutes, texts and inclusive data that you get. If you don’t, you may end up with a mobile phone on contract that is both uneconomical and not what you really want. Of course there are some mobile phones that are slightly easier on the wallet and the Sony Ericsson G900 is definitely one of them. Now you can organise your life the easy way with this brilliant little mobile phone. No longer will you have to forget things, as this little beauty will sort everything out for you, check it out today.

CHOOSING A CELLPHONE

Thursday, April 19th, 2007

The constantly evolving technology that shapes the cellphone industry has guaranteed that there will always be a new cell phone model with so many new and different features. Once, a cellphone exists only so that its user can make phone calls despite being mobile and not having access to any land-based telephone. But now, even the low-end cellphone models have features that ascertain the use of the cellphone to beyond just being a gadget used for making phone calls. With so many features available in cellphones nowadays, how does one go about in choosing a cellphone?

The cellphone has become so ubiquitous in our everyday lives that it has made it more than likely that each of us has held a cellphone at least once in our lives. As stated above, the use of cellphones has gone beyond merely making phone calls. Some users now browse the Internet and check email through their cellphone units. Some people use their cellphones as calendars and organizers. Some consider their cellphones as toys to play games with.

When you are choosing a cellphone, the one question you have to answer is that what role will the cellphone play in your life? For what purpose will you be using it? Once you have answered that question, you will know what to look for when choosing a cellphone.

If you are just going to use your cellphone for making phone calls and sending text messages, the average cellphone will do. Go for a cellphone with the minimum capabilities. Just make sure that the standby power of your cellphone is enough that you will not have to worry being interrupted by a dying battery while you are making a phone call. Another thing you may consider in choosing a cellphone is the width of the LCD screen. This display should be wide enough so you would not face any difficulty reading your text messages.

There is nothing to stop you from going for all the nifty features that a cellphone usually has nowadays if you really want it. By all means, when you are choosing a cellphone, go ahead and buy one that is WAP-capable, has cool games, has a 10 megapixel camera and has an mp3 player.

Size is another factor you may want to consider when choosing a cellphone. A lot of users say that the smaller the cellphone is, the better. However, you should buy a cellphone that fits comfortably in your hand. If it is too small, you may find yourself fumbling a lot with the keypad.

When you have decided on what unit to purchase, it is time to pick out your cellular service provider. Some users believe that choosing the cellphone service provider should come before choosing the cellphone unit. Read up on the local providers in your area and see what kind of services they offer. Are their rates competitive for you? How much do you have to pay for when you make long distance calls on your cellphone? Do you have to make additional payments for add-on services like activating the WAP capability of your cellphone?

Choosing a cellphone can be a tricky business. But it should not be so. Just try to avoid falling into the temptation of grabbing the coolest phone available and buy a phone with features you are really going to use.

LG Shine really sparkles

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

The latest LG phone, the LG Shine is a great follow-up to the popular LG Chocolate. It’s an ultra sleek phone that doesn’t use the newest technologies but still packs a punch for the average user.

LG Shine Mobile Phone

On first impression, you notice the stainless steel design. It is lightweight and durable, not to mention (not at all surprisingly) shiny and complemented with a brushed metal surface. LG have really found a winning design with this handset.

There are a number of improvements from the LG Chocolate. First, the camera phone in the LG Shine is a full 2 mega-pixels worth of imaging and secondly there is an expandable memory slot included, which lets you increase your memory to a total of 2 Gigabytes worth of data.

The Shine comes loaded with Bluetooth technology which is becoming the industry norm these days. This is however as good as it gets as far as new technologies go, no FM radio, digital zoom, flash for camera, or Wi-Fi. The lack of these features make the phone much cheaper, however, than its more expensive counterparts and there are some really great deals available from selected mobile phone retailers.

As far as any other complaints go, the basic memory built-in could be a little more generous, at a mere 70 MB. However, it is important to not get too picky as you can spend literally hundreds of pounds on a mobile if you wanted to and the Shine is actually available from free on a new contract. If you are the type who wants a fashionable phone, great features, and a great price, this phone is for you. (more…)

LG Prada most stylish mobile phone

Monday, April 16th, 2007

LG Prada mobile phone
The LG Prada is not surprisingly the most stylish mobile phone currently available as well as being one of the most technologically advanced phones on the market. The touch screen craze has manifested itself into a new look for the mobile phone industry and is reincarnated in this Prada phone by LG.

The phone is rather small and is much like what many expect the Apple iPhone to be like, high praise indeed! To navigate commands and other applications you simply touch the screen, again very Apple-ish. No physical buttons are required making this a very easy mobile phone to use.

Amongst the features available on the LG Prada, you can connect to the internet and store video or picture media. The 2 mega-pixel camera is a great above-average digital camera, certainly enough to get the job done. The handset features an FM radio, an increasingly popular feature on phones these days. You can play the latest games and also navigate roads in a 3D environment, helpful for those who get bored quickly or are bad with maps.

Overall, the LG Prada is incredibly stylish compared to other mobile phones. Its extra large 400×240 pixel screen will make any other mobile phone owner envy you. The retail price is expected at around £350, although it is available for free with an Orange pay monthly contract, making this a rather good buy for such an advanced product.
